EASY & HEALTHY TRIPLE NUT BUTTER RECIPE

I never thought I would share a recipe for triple nut butter in my life. A few months ago, somebody gave my husband and I almond butter and we hated it.

Being the typical American, I love Jiff, Peter Pan, or even just the off brand peanut butters. I really am not picky with my peanut butter, as long as there is a good sweetener and a creamy texture, I am good.

Due to a recent conversation with my doctor, I am currently doing a liver detox though, which includes me not eating any gluten, dairy, soy, caffeine, or refined sugar for the next month or so.

I know, I know, sounds crazy, right?

Since I already eat pretty healthy, I didn’t think it was going to be that big of deal. Let me tell you it is.

I have heard of the term gluten-free for years, but until it applies to you, you don’t really pay attention to it.

At first, I was very overwhelmed and had no idea what all I could and couldn’t eat

There were many days, specifically afternoons where I was hungry and needed a snack but I just didn’t know what I could eat.

I would snack on an apple, but would be hungry an hour or so later. Knowing peanut butter was full of sugar and not an option, I was at a loss.

After much research, I discovered the world of nut butters. Healthy nut butters that is.

I missed something sweet, but I knew that most sweet things (even chocolate chips) were not an option. A few days ago I came across the recipe for clean almond cookies. Since I was desperate for a little something sweet after supper, I thought this would be perfect.

In the midst of making them I had a different idea, though and started adding a little of this and a little of that. Out came this recipe, I call it Triple Nut Butter.

HOW TO EAT TRIPLE NUT BUTTER

I first started eating this triple nut butter as a fruit dip with apples and was simply obsessed! It filled me up for hours and was just the perfect sweet treat I was looking for to tame my mid-afternoon cravings.

After experimenting a little bit, I discovered a few other ways to eat this nut butter. You can enjoy it with:

  • apples
  • toast
  • oatmeal
  • pretzels
  • celery

HOW TO MAKE TRIPLE NUT BUTTER

This recipe is very simple and you probably have most of the ingredients in your kitchen.

I like to keep a good supply of nuts and natural nut butters on hand in my pantry. Check out my healthy grocery list to see what I like to keep in my kitchen. In case you’re running out of the butter, it’s very simple to make your own.

INGREDIENTS

  • almond butter
  • natural or homemade peanut butter
  • cashews
  • melted coconut oil
  • sea salt
  • honey

I ground a third a cup of cashews in the food processor or blender for about one minute. If I was making cashew butter, I would need to mix for about 5 minutes.

Combine cashews with almond butter and natural peanut butter, (the kind that has to be stored in the refrigerator). I added in a tablespoon of honey, and a tablespoon of melted coconut oil. Feel free to put a little sea salt in there too!
