Please tell me that I am not the only person out there that can NEVER cook rice just right. It always seems to run out of water, be very sticky, or just clump together.
A few years ago, I had heard about the amazing Instant Pot and that it did a WONDERFUL job cooking rice.
Desperate, I decided to give it a shot and simply fell in love. It was so simple, and completely fail proof!
I will NEVER go back to cooking rice on the stove again. EVER.
BROWN RICE VS. WHITE RICE
We have all heard that brown rice is healthier than white rice, but have you ever wondered why?
After doing a little research, I learned that brown rice is the same grain as white rice, but with more nutrients and fiber.
To get white rice, many of the nutrients are removed to get it to a “polished state”.
Since brown rice is less processed and has more nutrients and fiber, it is considered healthier.
INSTANT POT BROWN RICE
In order to cook the rice in the instant pot, follow a 1:1 ratio of rice to liquid.
For example, add 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water.
Pressure cook for 15 minutes. Do a natural release for 5 minutes and then quick release.
Fluff. Enjoy!
WHAT TO SERVE WITH BROWN RICE
If you are anything like our family, there are a few dishes that we prefer white rice with, but most dishes are great with brown rice. Here are some of our favorites
- Asian dishes, like Korean beef, stir fry, Egg Roll in a Bowl, or pork satay
- Mexican dishes, such as burrito bowls
- Meatloaf
- Blackened Tilapia or Parmesan Crusted Tilapia
