I am not going to lie, I have heard about avocado toast for years and thought it sounded absolutely disgusting. It never looked the least bit appetizing and it reminded me of the Dr. Suess book Green Eggs and Ham. 

Recently, I was put on a short term liver detox, which eliminated gluten, sugar, caffeine, soy and dairy from my diet. After deciding I needed to start thinking outside of the box of some of my normal foods, I remembered avocado toast. 

Being a texture person, I had to experiment a few times to find a way to eat avocado toast because soft and mushy wasn’t going to cut it.

Most avocado toasts don’t have meat on them, but meat REALLY makes a difference. I CANNOT eat avocado toast without a little bit of texture so sausage, bacon, ham, or smoky links are perfect!

 

WHY I LOVE AVOCADO TOAST

It is delicious. If you are looking for a healthy and unique breakfast, this is perfect!

Avocado toast is customizable. Each person in your family can make their toast a little differently.

It is great as a meal prep option! Prep the ingredients (eggs, meat, chopped cilantro) one day and eat it all week!

Avocado toast is healthy. It should be a regular part of your diet.

INGREDIENTS IN AVOCADO TOAST

  • BREAD OF CHOICE– gluten free if needed,
  • COCONUT OIL or BUTTER
  • EGGS– great, healthy protein source
  • MEAT OF CHOICE– bacon, sausage, ham, smoky links
  • AVOCADO
  • CHOPPED CILANTRO– Store fresh cilantro in a glass of water in the fridge with a bag covering it. It lasts for 2 weeks and is great to always have on hand!
  • EVERYTHING BAGEL SEASONING– Since this is a blend of seasonings, this is all you need. They include salt in there also, so you shouldn’t need to add any of that either!

These Avocado Toast Toppings are out of this world! Throw together a restaurant worthy avocado toast. It is the perfect way to start your day with a quick and easy breakfast that is full of flavor!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 slice bread gluten free if needed
  • 1 tsp. coconut oil or butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 serving meat of choice bacon, sausage, smokey links
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 pinch Everything Bagel seasoning
  • cilantro

Instructions
 

  • Make egg how you like it (scrambled, hard boiled, sunny side up, etc.). Place on your plate and set aside.
  • Toast bread in toaster. Spread with butter or coconut oil.
  • Warm up or cook your meat of choice in the skillet.
  • Layer eggs, meat, and avocado however you want, based on the ingredients you choose! Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning and cilantro.

Notes

If you aren’t concerned with carbs, throw another piece of bread on top for a sandwich.
I normally skip cheese, but you could easily throw some on your eggs if you wanted.
