Here you will find my recommendations for the best books 2022 edition.

We all have new year resolutions, and many times “read more” falls on the list. As a busy mom though, I rarely make time to sit and read a book. That is where audiobooks come in clutch.

I do the majority of my reading (well listening) on a platform called Scribd. My husband and I share an account for less than $10 a month and they have a wonderful selection of books! If you don’t already have an audiobook subscription, check them out!

"best

As a mom that always has things to do, I enjoy the art of multitasking. When listening to a good book, it somehow makes scrubbing the shower, folding laundry, or doing dishes seem better. Call me crazy but I think audiobooks are one of the best inventions ever.

Since we are talking about how we don’t have much time to read, I will keep this post brief. Here are my recommendations for best books 2022.

1. ADDICTED TO BUSY

by Brady Boyd

This book was just what I needed. In the midst of transitioning to being a stay-at-home mom and a mother of two under two, I felt like I never had a moment to sit. After starting the book, I learned that I didn’t know how to rest. This book puts our busyness into perspective. God does not want us to be busy, especially if it is preventing us from doing His work.

If you only choose one of my book recommendation, choose this one.

2. DON’T OVERTHINK IT

by Anne Bogel

As an over thinker, I could relate to many of the examples Anne shared in this book. She gives many practical tips on how we can change our mindset and stop overthinking. Anne also shares tips how to simplify your life with meal planning, having company, cleaning, etc.

One of my biggest takeaways was to complete the task. You won’t have a need to think about it later if the task is done correctly, mess put away, and done on time. So many times as a mom, I seem to start a project and then get called into another room, then realize it is time to start supper, take care of the crying baby, and the list goes on. Next thing I know, my project is spread all over the living room floor by a toddler who was just enjoying mom’s new toys. I tell myself daily now to “Complete the task before moving to the next thing.” I have found it helpful!

3. ENERGY BUS

by Jon Gordon

This is one of the first leadership books I listened to, and I quickly fell in love with author Jon Gordon. It is a rulebook with 10 rules for creating positive energy in your life, home, work, or marriage. His advice on the Energy Bus is perfect for anyone, especially Christians trying to be LIGHTS in this dark world.

4. BOUNDARIES

by Henry Cloud

Setting boundaries isn’t easy. It feels selfish and we are afraid of hurting people’s feelings. So instead of setting boundaries, we try to do it all. That leaves us overwhelmed, exhausted, and completely out of control. There is a better way. This book teaches when to yes and how to say no.

5. WHAT THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPE DO BEFORE BREAKFAST

by Laura Vanderkam

This past year I became a business owner and “mompreneur” as some would call it. I found this book very interesting as many of the most successful people in the world have similar daily habits. Even if you aren’t a business owner, but still want to get more done in a day, give this book a quick read!

Best books 2022- Runner Ups

These two books didn’t make the cut for my top 5, but I would still recommend reading them, especially if you are a stay at home mom that feels overwhelmed by the daily tasks of motherhood or find yourself comparing your family to others.

SEEING GREEN: Don’t Let Envy Color Your Joy

by Tilly Dillehay

Before reading this book, I don’t think I had a good understanding of the differences between envy, jealousy, and coveting. After reading Seeing Green, I learned that not everybody struggles with envy. Unfortunately, I do.

Since becoming a mother, I seem to find myself comparing me, my husband, and my children to others constantly. This book was very relatable for me and a good reminder how comparison should have no place in our hearts and our homes.

THE BETTER MOM: Growing in Grace between Perfection and the Mess

by Ruth Schwenk

I just finished this book in December, and felt like it needed to be on the list somewhere. This past year I have transitioned to being a stay-at-home mom, and it has not been easy. I have recently learned that being a mom is actually pretty challenging. All day long, I do dishes and clean up messes.

This book helped me put daily motherhood chores into perspective. She gives some grace, but yet acknowledges that motherhood is a hard time but it’s a time that God is molding us into the person we need to be. Ruth speaks truth in love and teaches us to give up our selfishness and instead be refined by God.
