SIMPLE CLEANING CHECKLIST TO SAVE YOU TIME AND STRESS WITH FREE PRINTABLE

This cleaning checklist is perfect for the busy mom that is tired of cleaning but yet never feels like she has a clean house.

I have included some affiliate links in this post of products that I have used. If you use any of these links to buy something, I may make a small commission.

I am not a cleaning expert, just a realistic mom who found something that works for her.

Having a messy house definitely correlates with my level of stress and overwhelm for the day. When my house is a mess, I feel overwhelmed. Instantly I feel like I can’t get caught up, I am a horrible mom, etc. It can be such a downward spiral.

SIDE NOTE: Having a messy house DOES NOT mean that you are a bad mom, Satan just wants you to think that. Check out my Affirmations for Moms to help combat Satan’s lies and stay positive momma!

TIDY VS CLEAN

Before we go too far, I want to note that there is a difference between having a tidy house and having a clean house.

A tidy house means no clutter, nothing on the floor, and everything in its place. A clean house means no dust, vacuum lines, spotless windows, etc. I believe your house CAN be clean, but not tidy.

This post is about using a cleaning schedule to keep your house CLEAN, not tidy.

DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

I call these the daily three. These are the three basic things that help me to feel like my house is clean.

These might be a little different for everybody, and that is okay. In all honesty, you probably do WAY more than these three tasks in a day, but I want to keep this simple.

  • Counters– This means clear off the clutter on your counters, table, and bathroom counter EVERY DAY. Go an extra step and wipe them down with an all purpose cleaner (Mrs. Meyers is one of my favorites!), Clorox wipe, or natural cleaner too. Having nothing on them and no mess will make you feel like a hundred bucks!
  • Laundry– Wash one load of laundry, dry it, fold AND put it away before you go to bed.
  • Dishwasher (and dishes)- At some point in your day, start your dishwasher and unload it. I like to start ours when we go to bed and unload in the morning. Do whatever works for you! If your kids are old enough, this is a great thing to have them help with!

DO I REALLY JUST DO THREE THINGS DAILY?

There are many other things that you could include in your daily 3 tasks, but these are ones that don’t necessarily come naturally, at least for me. Find 3 tasks that will help you “keep up” with the daily messes.

If you see there are crumbs all over the floor, you will sweep the kitchen floor, even if it is not on the schedule.

The same goes for taking out the trash. But, if you would like them on the daily checklist, feel free to add them!

The schedule HAS to work for you, otherwise, you won’t stick to it.

WEEKLY CLEANING CHECKLIST

On my weekly cleaning schedule, each day has a room to focus on and a whole house chore.

I like to focus on one room and one task for the whole house. This just feels like the practical thing to do. If I have my vacuum out, I might as well do the whole house instead of getting it out each day. This is just my personal opinion and what works for me.

Monday- bathrooms and countertops

Tuesday- bedrooms and dusting

Wednesday- living room and vacuuming

Thursday- kitchen and sweeping & mopping

Friday- any other rooms and catchup

Saturday- catchup and spot clean

Sunday- REST

This is the schedule that works best for me, but find what works best for you.

YEARLY CLEANING CHECKLIST

I kept the yearly cleaning list pretty small. There are TONS of things that you could do yearly. I just chose a few that I make sure I get done every year. Really, it is up to you and what all you want to clean and how much effort you want to give.

Be sure to download your copy of the cleaning checklist and print it out so you can start saving time today!

I hope you enjoyed your time here and will come back for more!
