BREAKFAST SANDWICH RECIPES THE WHOLE FAMILY WILL LOVE
Breakfast sandwich recipes are pretty common but the options are endless! Customize these for your own family and they are sure to love them!
If your mornings are anything like ours, you don’t have time to make an elaborate breakfast. You barely have time for a pop tart.
Making sure everybody gets where they need to go on time with everything they need can be incredibly stressful.
Here at Living Practically, I am all about eliminating stress whenever possible. Having a morning routine that helps me start my day with minimal stress is SO helpful. Find breakfast sandwich recipes that my family loves is a great way to minimize my morning stress.
I also love to work ahead whenever possible, including a very basic meal prep, which is different than what you are expecting.
Most people think of suppers when they hear meal prep, but I’m all about preparing your meal or even part of your meal beforehand to help with dinner time craziness.
Nobody every talks about meal prepping breakfasts, but I think it is life changing!
It is so easy to have one or two breakfast options in the fridge for the week and just require reheating.
Some of our family favorites are oatmeal raisin muffins, eggs scrambles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, baked oatmeals, overnight oats, and pancakes!
These breakfast sandwiches are so nice to have in the fridge and even in the freezer. They are so versatile. You can put a variety of different things on them and they take under 15 minutes to prep. Seriously, they are a win-win!
COMMON INGREDIENTS IN BREAKFAST SANDWICH RECIPES
BREAD– Honestly, you can use whatever bread you want here, toast, croissants, English muffins, dinner rolls, etc.
EGGS– I like scrambled eggs best. You can also bake them in a 9×13 pan, but since I am a big texture person, baked eggs are not my favorite.
MEAT– Bacon, turkey bacon, sausage, and ham are all good options.
CHEESE-Our favorites are pepper jack and cheddar slices, but you can always skip this if you are dairy free.
If you are looking for anything to spice them up, dip them in ketchup, drizzle with hot sauce, add some spices to the eggs, or lather in jam. I know jam sounds crazy, but trust me.
Jam (especially our homemade blueberry jam) on a breakfast sandwich is to die for!
FREEZING BREAKFAST SANDWICHES
It is pretty easy, even your kids can help!
We just wrap them in tin foil and store them in a Ziploc bag in the freezer. Use them up in the first few months and they should be fine!
I will say though if you are baking your eggs, make sure you make them in thin layers. Freezing baked eggs can kind of change the texture of the eggs.
If I’m going to freeze my breakfast sandwiches, I like to do them scrambled. It seems that it doesn’t change the texture as much.
RE-HEATING BREAKFAST SANDWICHES
Prepare from fridge– Bake for 5-10 minutes at 350. When you unwrap them they will be REALLY hot so be careful!
Prepare from frozen– Thaw for a few hours and then bake for 5-10 minutes. If you bake completely frozen that is fine, just plan on 20-30 minutes to get the center nice and warm.
Microwave in a paper towel. You can also microwave these sandwiches from the fridge or freezer. Remove the foil and wrap in a paper towel. Microwave for 1-2 minutes.
MAKE THEM HEALTHY
Choose whole grain bread.
Turkey bacon is a great lean protein source that is DELICIOUS on these sandwiches.
Add some veggies like spinach, peppers, or avocado.
Top with guacamole, everything bagel seasoning, or hot sauce to add a little pizzaz.
Easy Breakfast Sandwiches
Ingredients
- Bread- english muffins & croissants are our favorites
- Eggs- one per sandwich
- Meat- bacon, sausage or ham
- Sliced cheese- pepper jack is our favorite, but any will work
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Jam or ketchup (optional)
Instructions
- Crack eggs, we normally do one egg per sandwich. Add some salt & pepper. Whisk together.
- Scramble eggs in a skillet over the stove. You can also bake eggs in the oven if you would like. I recommend a THIN layer of eggs, especially if you are going to freeze them.
- Assemble sandwiches with bread, eggs, cheese and wrap in foil.
- Store in the fridge for up to 1 week or freezer for 3-4 months.
- Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes. You can also microwave them without the foil for about 1 minute if you would rather.
Notes:
We love to dip our sandwich with a little jam or ketchup. You can put the jam the sandwich before you bake it.
If you are putting the jam on and storing in the fridge or freezer, I recommend not having the jam right on the bread as it will get soggy.
