A MOTHER’S PRAYER FOR HERSELF, CHILDREN AND FAMILY WITH A FREE PRINTABLE
A mother’s prayer is a simple daily prayer that moms can use to ask God for help to be their best EVERYDAY, while also trying to love and serve her family well.
I used to think I had my life all together, then I became a wife and saw so many of my flaws and how selfish I am.
Then, I became a mother and saw even more.
We see our imperfections daily and our desperate need for Jesus.
It is so easy to be “too busy” for God, but getting time alone with Him everyday is VITAL.
I like to start my morning with devotions before all the motherhood duties call, laundry, breakfast, diaper changes, the list goes on.
Having a good morning routine and getting up before my kids helps my mornings go so much better! Here are a few more tips on being a productive mother.
A MOTHER’S PRAYER FOR HERSELF
There are three main areas that I like to focus on when I pray.
The first is myself. You can’t pour from an empty cup, or so the saying goes. The best way to fill up that cup is to ask God for help.
Thank the Lord for giving you children, they truly are a gift from the Lord. Psalm 127:3 states that “Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from him.”
Pray for grace in the ways that you will disappoint the Lord today. Thank him that his mercies are new every morning, as Lamentations 3:23 tells us.
Ask the Lord to help you be a supportive wife that respects her husband. Find ways daily to prioritize your husband so he feels loved and valued.
Pray specifically for patience and wisdom because being a parent is not easy and we need God’s help. Psalm 46:1 confirms that “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (NLT)”
A MOTHER’S PRAYER FOR HER FAMILY
Thank the Lord for your husband and pray that he can lead your family. Pray that he can feel loved and respected by you AND your children.
Ask the Lord to help build a strong marriage.
Pray for unity in your marriage. Find specific ways today that you can encourage your husband and let him know that he is loved, and that he is important to you.
Ask the Lord to show your family opportunities to bless others and share the Gospel today.
A MOTHER’S PRAYER FOR HER CHILDREN
The last thing I pray is for my kids, collectively and individually.
Pray that your children can grow to know God as their savior. “Start your children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Ask the Lord that your children will obey you as their mother and your husband. Ephesians 6:1 commands, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
As your kids get older, you can ask for specific prayer requests from each of your kids.
BIBLE VERSES FOR MOMS
Ephesians 6: 1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ — which is the first commandment with a promise — ‘so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on earth.”
Exodus 2:8 – “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
1 Peter 5:2-3 – “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them — not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Proverbs 22:6 – “Start your children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Psalm 127:3 – “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.”
